HC-256 is a stream cipher designed to provide bulk encryption in software at high speeds while permitting strong confidence in its security. A 128-bit variant was submitted as an eSTREAM cipher candidate and has been selected as one of the four final contestants in the software profile. The algorithm is designed by Hongjun Wu, and was first published in 2004. It is not patented. (Wikipedia).

25c3: An introduction to new stream cipher designs
Speaker: Tor E. Bjørstad Turning data into line noise and back Even with "nothing to hide", we want to protect the privacy of our bits and bytes. Encryption is an important tool for this, and stream ciphers are a major class of symmetric-key encryption schemes. Algorithms such as RC4 (us

Do optional passphrases protect against leaks or compromises of mnemonic seed words? Why are brain wallets usually insecure? Why should you not "roll your own crypto" and promote creative schemes that deviate from the standards (like BIP39), without at least getting peer review and testing

Playing a Game on a MC14500 1-bit Single Board Computer!
Once upon a time, I built up a 1-bit computer on a breadboard based around the Motorola MC14500 1-bit Industrial Control Unit microprocessor (link below to that playlist). It was epic and I loved it, but I also loved having my breadboard to do prototyping on. So, I tore it down after filmi
