C80 Solving a linear DE with Laplace transformations

Showing how to solve a linear differential equation by way of the Laplace and inverse Laplace transforms. The Laplace transform changes a linear differential equation into an algebraical equation that can be solved with ease. It remains to do the inverse Laplace transform to calculate th

Linear Transformations and Linear Systems

In this video we discuss linear transformations. We start by examining the mathematical definition of a linear transformation and apply it to several examples including matrix multiplication and differentiation. We then see how linear transformations relate to linear systems (AKA linear

Linear Algebra II - Eigenvectors & eigenvalues: Oxford Maths 1st Year Student Lecture, James Maynard

In this lecture from James Maynard from his 1st Year Linear Algebra II course we introduce the idea of 'eigenvectors', which are vectors that are stretched by a linear transformation. Looking at eigenvectors gives a very useful perspective for understanding linear maps. You can access the

We establish a new connection between moments of n×n random matrices $X_{n}$ and hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials. Specifically, we consider moments $\mathbb{E}\mathrm{Tr} X_n^{-s}$ as a function of the complex variable $s\in\mathbb{C}$, whose analytic structure we describe completely
