Combinatorial game theory | Mathematical games

Kayles

Kayles is a simple impartial game in combinatorial game theory, invented by Henry Dudeney in 1908. Given a row of imagined bowling pins, players take turns to knock out either one pin, or two adjacent pins, until all the pins are gone. Using the notation of octal games, Kayles is denoted 0.77. Visual Group Theory, Lecture 1.4: Group presentations

Visual Group Theory, Lecture 1.4: Group presentations We begin this lecture by learning how to take a Cayley diagram and label its nodes with the elements of a group. Such a labeled diagram can function as a "group calculator". It leads to the notion of a "group presentation", which is a

End Behavior of ln(x)

Calculus: Using the exponent rule for natural logarithm, we verify the end behavior of the graph of ln(x). That is, we show that the limit as x goes to infinity of ln(x) is positive infinity and that the limit as x goes to 0 from the right is negative infinity. We interpret the result
