Uniform field theory is a formula for determining the effective electrical resistance of a parallel wire system. By calculating the mean square field acting throughout a section of coil, formulae are obtained for the effective resistances of single- and multi-layer solenoidal coils of either solid or stranded wire. Conformal Field Theory (CFT) | Infinitesimal Conformal Transformations
Conformal field theories are used in many areas of physics, from condensed matter physics, to statistical physics to string theory. They are defined as quantum field theories that are invariant under so-called conformal transformations. In this video, we will investigate these conformal tr

Quantum field theory, Lecture 2
This winter semester (2016-2017) I am giving a course on quantum field theory. This course is intended for theorists with familiarity with advanced quantum mechanics and statistical physics. The main objective is introduce the building blocks of quantum electrodynamics. Here in Lecture 2

We are used to using a theory like VSEPR theory to predict molecular geometry, but unfortunately with coordination compounds, things are not so simple, because of those pesky d orbitals on the central metal atom. Crystal field theory is a model that is quite successful in predicting the ge

Conformal Field Theory (CFT) | More on Infinitesimal Conformal Transformations
Conformal field theories are quantum field theories that are invariant under so-called conformal transformations. In this video, we will investigate these conformal transformations in three or more dimensions. More information and details can be found in the excellent book "Introduction

Lecture 8 | String Theory and M-Theory
(November 8, 2010) Professor Leonard Susskind covers the history of path/surface integrals; conformal mapping; application of conformal mapping in string scattering. String theory (with its close relative, M-theory) is the basis for the most ambitious theories of the physical world. It ha
