Metrication in the United States
The US Metric Association (USMA), based in Windsor, Colorado, is a non-profit organization that advocates for total conversion of the United States to the International System of Units (SI). Founded on 27 December 1916 at Columbia University in New York City, it was originally called the American Metric Association. The USMA publishes a bi-monthly newsletter for its members on the state of the metric system in the United States: Metric Today. (Wikipedia).

Teach Astronomy - The Metric System
http://www.teachastronomy.com/ The metric system is very simple. All scientists use the metric system for describing their measurements. In the metric system for example, there are one thousand millimeters in a meter, one thousand meters in a kilometer. The metric system is based entire

What is a metric space? An example
This is a basic introduction to the idea of a metric space. I introduce the idea of a metric and a metric space framed within the context of R^n. I show that a particular distance function satisfies the conditions of being a metric.

IGA: Legendre Transforms Convex Functions and Plurisubharmonic Metrics
Rémi Reboulet (Grenoble) Abstract: We begin by explaining the correspondence between convex functions on integral polytopes and plurisubharmonic (i.e. "generalized convex") metrics on polarized toric varieties. Under this correspondence, geodesics in the space of toric psh metrics are tran

Rod Gover - An introduction to conformal geometry and tractor calculus (Part 1)
After recalling some features (and the value of) the invariant « Ricci calculus » of pseudo‐Riemannian geometry, we look at conformal rescaling from an elementary perspective. The idea of conformal covariance is visited and some covariant/invariant equations from physics are recovered in

MAST30026 Lecture 18: Banach spaces (Part 1)
There are many Lipschitz equivalent metrics on Euclidean space, apart from the sup-metric (which we have successfully generalised to function spaces) there are also metrics defined using sums. To generalise those, we need integrals, and the resulting theory leads to Banach spaces. In this
