Thrust-to-weight ratio is a dimensionless ratio of thrust to weight of a rocket, jet engine, propeller engine, or a vehicle propelled by such an engine that is an indicator of the performance of the engine or vehicle. The instantaneous thrust-to-weight ratio of a vehicle varies continually during operation due to progressive consumption of fuel or propellant and in some cases a gravity gradient. The thrust-to-weight ratio based on initial thrust and weight is often published and used as a figure of merit for quantitative comparison of a vehicle's initial performance. (Wikipedia).

Teach Astronomy - Mass and Weight
http://www.teachastronomy.com/ People use the words interchangeably, but there is a big difference between the concept of mass and the concept of weight. Mass is the amount of stuff in an object, or the number of atoms, measured in units of kilograms. Weight however is the response of an

The Difference Between Mass and Weight
There is a common perception that weight and mass are basically the same thing. This video aims to tease out the difference between mass and weight by asking people what makes a car difficult to push. The standard answer is that it is difficult to push because it's heavy. But heaviness is

How Do Planes Fly? | The Great Courses
When Jerrie Mock set out to fly solo around the world, she just had to make one tiny adjustment to her Cessna 180—ripping out the seats and replacing them with an enormous fuel tank. She quadrupled her flight range and in 1964 became the first woman to circumnavigate the globe alone. Place
