The Story of Chinese Character : 倡

倡 is composed of 人(a man) and 昌(singing under the sun), the original meaning of 倡 is actor or singer. When a actor or singer is popular, he or she will become an idol for the others to imitate, so 倡 also has the meaning of initiating or proposing someone to do something.

昌 depicts someone speaking(曰) under the sun(日). When the society is prosperous, people lived happily and dare to speak or sing openly(under the sun or at the daytime). After the appearance of 唱, 昌 solely means prosperity.
