Sommerfeld radiation condition

In mathematics, the Sommerfeld radiation condition is a concept from theory of differential equations and scattering theory used for choosing a particular solution to the Helmholtz equation. It was introduced by Arnold Sommerfeld in 1912and is closely related to the limiting absorption principle (1905) and the limiting amplitude principle (1948). (Wikipedia).

Solid State Physics in a Nutshell: Topic 8-1: Free Electron Model

We begin this video by approximating our system as one electron in an infinite square well. We then develop a dispersion relation for the electron. We continue by looking at both fixed and periodic boundary conditions to develop a solution for the wave function.
