Rep-tile

In the geometry of tessellations, a rep-tile or reptile is a shape that can be dissected into smaller copies of the same shape. The term was coined as a pun on animal reptiles by recreational mathematician Solomon W. Golomb and popularized by Martin Gardner in his "Mathematical Games" column in the May 1963 issue of Scientific American. In 2012 a generalization of rep-tiles called self-tiling tile sets was introduced by Lee Sallows in Mathematics Magazine. (Wikipedia).

Hydraulic cylinder with fixed piston

Green cylinder with machine table reciprocates. Pressure fluid is conducted into cylinder via holes on fixed piston rod. The hoses can be stationary. In case using holes on the cylinder the hoses have to move with the cylinder. The arrows show flows of pressure fluid.

What is Set Subtraction?

What is set subtraction? In this video we go over that, the set minus set operation, and an example of subtraction in set theory. This is a handy concept to grasp to understand the complement of a set and universal sets, which I also have videos on. Links below. I hope you find this vide

Ryuhei Uehara - Solving Rep-tile by Computers - G4G14 Apr 2022

A rep-tile is a polygon that can be dissected into smaller copies (of the same size) of the original polygon. A polyomino is a polygon that is formed by joining one or more unit squares edge to edge. These two notions were first introduced and investigated by Solomon W. Golomb in the 1950s

Sabine Segre - Rep-Tile Tangram - G4G14 Apr 2022

Each of the seven pieces of the classical Chinese tangram puzzle can be assembled from exactly these seven (scaled down) pieces. Therefore, we can look at repeated tilings (rep-tiles) made from tangram pieces. In case of so far in the literature discussed rep-tiles, one and the same tile i
