Spacecraft attitude control | Gyroscopes
A rate gyro is a type of gyroscope, which rather than indicating direction, indicates the rate of change of angle with time. If a gyro has only one gimbal ring, with consequently only one plane of freedom, it can be adapted for use as a rate gyro to measure a rate of angular movement. Rate gyros are used in rate integrating gyroscopes, and in attitude control systems for vehicles, and in combination with other sensors to make inertial navigation systems. The advantage of rate gyros over other types of gyros is the fast response rate and their relatively low cost. (Wikipedia).

Computing Euler Angles: The Euler Kinematical Equations and Poisson’s Kinematical Equations
In this video we discuss how the time rate of change of the Euler angles are related to the angular velocity vector of the vehicle. This allows us to design an algorithm to consume measurements from a rate gyro and compute the resulting Euler angles of the vehicle. Topics and Timestamps:

Volume Flow Rate & Mass Flow Rate - Fluid Dynamics Physics Problems
This physics video tutorial provides a basic introduction into mass flow rate and volume flow rate. The mass flow rate is the change in mass per unit time. It is also equal to the product of the fluid density, cross sectional area and the speed of the fluid in a pipe. The volume flow ra

Inertial Gyroscope Spin Up and Demo
In an experiment related to our Apollo Guidance Computer restoration, we spin up a rate gyroscope and demonstrate how it works. Much better versions of this gyro were used in the Apollo Inertial Measurement Unit used by the guidance computer. But similar principles apply. We eventually pla

WWII USAF Gyroscope Spin Up and Turntable Test
We spin up Ed Thelen's Sperry C-5 military-grade direction indicator gyro. Design is from 1949 and it still works wonders. We also repair and demonstrate the self-leveling feature. Finally, we mount it on a high precision Ideal Aerosmith gyro turntable for testing. Many thanks to Ideal Ae
