In queueing theory, a discipline within the mathematical theory of probability, quasireversibility (sometimes QR) is a property of some queues. The concept was first identified by and further developed by Frank Kelly. Quasireversibility differs from reversibility in that a stronger condition is imposed on arrival rates and a weaker condition is applied on probability fluxes. For example, an M/M/1 queue with state-dependent arrival rates and state-dependent service times is reversible, but not quasireversible. A network of queues, such that each individual queue when considered in isolation is quasireversible, always has a product form stationary distribution. Quasireversibility had been conjectured to be a necessary condition for a product form solution in a queueing network, but this was shown not to be the case. Chao et al. exhibited a product form network where quasireversibility was not satisfied. (Wikipedia).

Teach Astronomy - Pseudoscience
http://www.teachastronomy.com/ A pseudoscience is something that pretends to be scientific but is not. Science follows a rigorous method which relies on the sharing of data, the basis in observations, and the fact that any scientist can assert something, but it has to be supported by evid

Transference is a very useful word from psychoanalysis which describes the process whereby we react to situations in the present according to a pattern laid down in the past, usually in childhood. Getting to know our own particular transferences is part of becoming a sane adult. If you lik

Why You Should Never Say "It's Just A Theory"
A portion of our culture distrusts the scientific method, assuming that there are transcendent truths unknowable by science. But nothing is truly out of bounds for science. If it's real, it can be studied, and tested. Perhaps the greatest misunderstanding our culture has about the scientif

What the heck is a Multiverse?
The idea of a multiverse (short for multiple universes) can seem absurd. After all, the definition of universe means everything, so what does it mean to have multiple universes? In this video, Fermilab’s Dr. Don Lincoln lists a couple possible definitions for a multiverse. The reality in
