PlantUML

PlantUML is an open-source tool allowing users to create diagrams from a plain text language. Besides various UML diagrams, PlantUML has support for various other software development related formats (such as Archimate, Block diagram, BPMN, C4, Computer network diagram, ERD, Gantt chart, Mind map, and WBD), as well as visualisation of JSON and YAML files. The language of PlantUML is an example of a domain-specific language. Besides its own DSL, PlantUML also understands AsciiMath, Creole, DOT, and LaTeX. It uses Graphviz software to lay out its diagrams and Tikz for LaTeX support. Images can be output as PNG, SVG, LaTeX and even ASCII art. PlantUML has also been used to allow blind people to design and read UML diagrams. (Wikipedia).

Introduction to Botany

Plants are remarkable organisms. From the tiniest shrub to the tallest tree, these organisms have fascinating structures and biological functions. What anatomical features do plants all have in common? What is the evolutionary history of plants? How do plants interact with their environmen

Plant Anatomy and Structure

We've learned about the types of plant cells, and the types of plant tissues, so the next step up on the hierarchy of organization is organs and organ systems. Plants have these too! The stem, the leaves, the roots, these are all considered organs of the plant, and they are organized into

Solution Chemistry and Net Ionic Equations

What are electrolytes? Yes, they're what plants crave. But they are also ionic solids dissociated in solution, such that they can conduct electrical current. Learn about solutions! Watch the whole General Chemistry playlist: http://bit.ly/ProfDaveGenChem More AP Chemistry review material

Types of Plant Cells

If we want to learn about plant structure and function, we have to start with the smallest components, and those would be plant cells. Just like animals, plants are made of eukaryotic cells of different types, and in plants these are called meristematic cells, parenchyma cells, collenchyma

Angiosperms: Flowering Plants

We just learned about gymnosperms, and the incredible evolutionary advantages they had over their ancestors. But the next leap forward for plants was even more impressive. Angiosperms are flowering plants, so any plant with flowers or fruits is an angiosperm. And instead of fertilizing by

Introduction to Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry

So far we've learned a lot about general chemistry and organic chemistry, so let's move into inorganic chemistry and organometallic chemistry. In this series we will investigate all the elements on the periodic table that were ignored in organic chemistry, especially the transition metals.

Eukaryotic Cells Part 2: Plant Cells

It's not just animals that are made of cells, it's plants too! Plant cells are very similar to animal cells, but they have some stuff that animal cells don't, like chloroplasts, that allow for photosynthesis. Let's take a tour through a plant cell now! Watch the whole Biology/Genetics pla

Types of Plant Tissues

We just learned about plant cells, so now it's time to learn about how these different types of cells come together to form all the different tissues in the plant. There is ground tissue, dermal tissue, and vascular tissue. What do they all do? What the heck is xylem and phloem? Let's lear
