Piecewise-constant valuation

A piecewise-constant valuation is a kind of a function that represents the utility of an agent over a continuous resource, such as land. It occurs when the resource can be partitioned into a finite number of regions, and in each region, the value-density of the agent is constant. A piecewise-uniform valuation is a piecewise-constant valuation in which the constant is the same in all regions. Piecewise-constant and piecewise-uniform valuations are particularly useful in algorithms for fair cake-cutting. (Wikipedia).

Find the values that makes a piecewise function continuous

This video focuses on how to find the values that makes a piecewise function continuous. The questions involved in this video are AP Calculus style questions. I explore a few different options for how to solve for missing values to make a piecewise function continuous. If you found this v

Ngoc Mai Tran: Tropical solutions to hard problems in auction theory and neural networks, lecture I

Tropical mathematics is mathematics done in the min-plus (or max-plus) algebra. The power of tropical mathematics comes from two key ideas: (a) tropical objects are limits of classical ones, and (b) the geometry of tropical objects is polyhedral. In this course, I’ll demonstrate how these
