Color space

Ostwald color system

In colorimetry, the Ostwald color system is a color space that was invented by the Baltic German chemist Wilhelm Ostwald. Associated with The Color Harmony Manual, it comprises a set of paint chips representing the Ostwald color space. There are four different editions of the Color Harmony Manual. Each manual is made up of charts, with each chart being a different color space. (Wikipedia).

The Color White Does NOT Exist

Color is a property that belongs to light (i.e. electromagnetic waves). We only think objects are colored because of the light they reflect and scatter. In fact, some of the colors you see are an illusion created by your eyes and brain. What colors are real and which ones are fake? Let's f

Recovery, Recyrstallization, and Grain Growth

As metals are deformed and then heated they undergo recovery, recrystallization, and grain growth. The hardness, yield strength, ductility, and grain size all change wildly during these processes. Old, deformed grains are replaced by defect-free grains which grow over time via Ostwald ripe
