Open-loop model

In game theory, an open-loop model is the one where players cannot observe the play of their opponents, as opposed to a closed-loop model, where all past play is common knowledge. The solution to an open-loop model is called "open-loop equilibrium". Open loop models are more tractable, which is why they are sometimes preferred to closed-loop models even when the latter is a better description of reality. (Wikipedia).

Intro to Open Sets (with Examples) | Real Analysis

We introduce open sets in the context of the real numbers, along with examples and nonexamples of open sets. This is an important topic in the topology of the reals. We say a subset U of the reals is open if, for any x in U, there exists a delta-neighborhood of x that is contained in U. We

All About Closed Sets and Closures of Sets (and Clopen Sets) | Real Analysis

We introduced closed sets and clopen sets. We'll visit two definitions of closed sets. First, a set is closed if it is the complement of some open set, and second, a set is closed if it contains all of its limit points. We see examples of sets both closed and open (called "clopen sets") an

Orbit of a set in abstract algebra

In this video we start to take a look at the orbit-stabilizer theorem. Our first stop is the orbit of a set. The orbit is created by taking an arbitrary element of a set and acting on that element by all the elements in the set of an an arbitrary group. In this video, we look at a few p

What is a closed set ?

I define closed sets, an important notion in topology and analysis. It is defined in terms of limit points, and has a priori nothing to do with open sets. Yet I show the important result that a set is closed if and only if its complement is open. More topology videos can be found on my pla

ArrrrCamp 2015 - Opening up to change by Andy Pike

The one constant in software is change. Your code will need to change and adapt over time. We should try to write code that is easy to change in the future. If possible, change without having to edit existing code. This talk is all about the O in SOLID: the Open-Closed principle. I'll expl

Abstract: We introduce a new strategy for the solution of Mean Field Games in the presence of major and minor players. This approach is based on a formulation of the fixed point step in spaces of controls. We use it to highlight the differences between open and closed loop problems. We ill
