Modulus of smoothness

In mathematics, moduli of smoothness are used to quantitatively measure smoothness of functions. Moduli of smoothness generalise modulus of continuity and are used in approximation theory and numerical analysis to estimate errors of approximation by polynomials and splines. (Wikipedia).

Bulk Modulus of Elasticity and Compressibility - Fluid Mechanics - Physics Practice Problems

This physics video tutorial explains how to solve problems associated with the bulk modulus of materials. The bulk modulus is the ratio of bulk stress and bulk strain. The bulk stress is the ratio of force and area which is equivalent to the pressure exerted by a fluid. The bulk strain

Stress-strain curves and modulus of elasticity

When we apply a stress to a material we get a strain. But how much? The amount of strain will be proportional to the modulus of elasticity also known as Young's modulus or the materials stiffness. Yount's modulus is the slope of the stress vs strain curve during the elastic deformation reg

Understanding Young's Modulus

Young's modulus is a crucial mechanical property in engineering, as it defines the stiffness of a material and tells us how much it will deform for an applied stress. In this video I take a detailed look at Young's modulus, starting with tensile tests and stress-strain curves, all the way
