Anions

Lewis acidic antimony compounds

Among pnictogen group Lewis acidic compounds, unusual lewis acidity of Lewis acidic antimony compounds have long been exploited as both stable conjugate acids of non-coordinating anions (SbF−6 and Sb2F−11), and strong Lewis acid counterparts of well-known superacids (magic acids, fluoroantimonic acid). Also, Lewis-acidic antimony compounds have recently been investigated to extend the chemistry of boron because of the isolobal analogy between the vacant p orbital of borane and σ*(Sb–X) orbitals of stiborane, and the similar electronegativities of antimony (2.05) and boron (2.04). Acids and Bases - Short Revision || CBSE Science || || Infinity Learn Class 9&10

Acids and bases are two types of substances that are fundamental to chemistry. An acid is a substance that donates protons (hydrogen ions, H+) to a solution, while a base is a substance that accepts protons or donates hydroxide ions (OH-) to a solution. There are several ways to define and

Hard/Soft Acid-Base Theory

We certainly know about acids and bases, and we know about the Lewis model of acidity and basicity. In transition metal complexes, the metal centers are acting as Lewis acids, and the ligands are acting as Lewis bases. But certain types of acids and bases interact best in this context. Har
