Hysteron proteron

The hysteron proteron (from the Greek: ὕστερον πρότερον, hýsteron próteron, "later earlier") is a rhetorical device. It occurs when the first key word of the idea refers to something that happens temporally later than the second key word. The goal is to call attention to the more important idea by placing it first. The standard example comes from the Aeneid of Virgil: "Moriamur, et in media arma ruamus" ("Let us die, and charge into the thick of the fight"; ii. 353). An example of hysteron proteron encountered in everyday life is the common reference to putting on one's "shoes and socks", rather than "socks and shoes". By this deliberate reversal, hysteron proteron draws attention to the important point, so giving it primacy.Hysteron proteron is a form of hyperbaton, which describes general rearrangements of the sentence. It can also be defined as a figure of speech consisting of the reversal of a natural or rational order (as in "then came the thunder and the lightning"). (Wikipedia).

Using the pythagorean theorem to a rhombus

👉 Learn how to solve problems with rhombuses. A rhombus is a parallelogram such that all the sides are equal. Some of the properties of rhombuses are: all the sides are equal, each pair of opposite sides are parallel, each pair of opposite angles are equal, the diagonals bisect each other,

Homomorphisms in abstract algebra

In this video we add some more definition to our toolbox before we go any further in our study into group theory and abstract algebra. The definition at hand is the homomorphism. A homomorphism is a function that maps the elements for one group to another whilst maintaining their structu

Group Homomorphisms - Abstract Algebra

A group homomorphism is a function between two groups that identifies similarities between them. This essential tool in abstract algebra lets you find two groups which are identical (but may not appear to be), only similar, or completely different from one another. Homomorphisms will be

The Image of a Group Homomorphism is a Subgroup (Proof)

We are given a group homomorphism from a group G into a group H. We prove that the image of f, the collection of all elements of the form f(x) where x is in G, is a subgroup of H. I hope this helps someone learning abstract algebra. Useful Math Supplies https://amzn.to/3Y5TGcv My Recordin

Isomorphisms (Abstract Algebra)

An isomorphism is a homomorphism that is also a bijection. If there is an isomorphism between two groups G and H, then they are equivalent and we say they are "isomorphic." The groups may look different from each other, but their group properties will be the same. Be sure to subscribe s
