Fireworks algorithm

The Fireworks Algorithm (FWA) is a swarm intelligence algorithm that explores a very large solution space by choosing a set of random points confined by some distance metric in the hopes that one or more of them will yield promising results, allowing for a more concentrated search nearby. A solar system, a simulation made with Excel

An Excel simulation of the solar system. You can see how things are recursively computed: the mutual gravity force from the locations, the accelerations, the velocities, and finally the updated locations. The solar eclipse is also shown. This is clip is intended to illustrate Chapter 24 Ap

Pendulum, a simulation made with Excel

The clip demonstrates the physics of a pendulum. It’s implemented with Excel and you can see how things are computed: the gravity (green), its projection on the string (purple), the tangential component of the force (red), the acceleration, the velocity, and finally the location. This is c

A saucerful of droplets

This one is supposed to give the impression of raindrops falling into an elliptical pool. Raindrops are added at random locations, and at regular time intervals (of course, one could randomize the times as well). The simulation solves the wave equation with a little bit of damping. If the

Introduction to Matrices | Geometry | Maths | FuseSchool

Introduction to Matrices | Geometry | Maths | FuseSchool Chances are, you have heard the word “matrices” in a movie. But do you know what they are or what they are used for? Well, “matrices” is plural of a “matrix”. And you can think about a matrix as just a table of numbers, and that’s

Coding Math: Application 2 - Ballistics Part 2

We build on the Ballistics game we started earlier, creating a cannonball that actually shoots out of the gun at the angle of the gun and reacts with realistic gravity. Support Coding Math: http://patreon.com/codingmath Source Code: http://github.com/bit101/codingmath
