Evolution in Variable Environment (EVE) is a computer program designed to simulate microbial cellular behavior in various environments. The prediction of cellular responses is a rapidly evolving topic in systems biology and computational biology. The goal is to predict the behavior a particular organism in response to a set of environmental stimuli in silico. Such predictions can have a significant impact on preventive medicine, biotechnology, and microbe re-engineering. Computational prediction of behavior has two major components: the integration and simulation of vast biological networks and the creation of external stimuli. Current limitations of the method are: lack of comprehensive experimental data on the various cellular subsystems and inadequate computational algorithms. (Wikipedia).

Introduction to studying adaptation.
This video defines adaptation in terms of its concept as a both a noun and a verb. It provides two criteria we must keep in mind when consider the process of adaptation and cautions against the danger of making up plausible stories without testing them.

What Is A Species? | Evolution | Biology | FuseSchool
Carl Linnaeus classified all living things into groups based upon their physical features. His system placed organisms with the most similar characteristics together in a group he called the “species”. A species is defined as all organisms that are able to breed with one another, and mos

3. Adaptive Evolution: Natural Selection
Principles of Evolution, Ecology and Behavior (EEB 122) Adaptive Evolution is driven by natural selection. Natural selection is not "survival of the fittest," but rather "reproduction of the fittest." Evolution can occur at many different speeds based on the strength of the selection dr

Eugene V. Koonin - Evolution of complexity
What are the origin and routes of evolution of the enormous hierarchical complexity of life that has no precedence in inanimate matter? Arguably, this is the ultimate question of evolutionary biology if not of biology as a whole. Then, to understand the origin of life with its complexity,
