Renormalization group

Dangerously irrelevant operator

In statistical mechanics and quantum field theory, a dangerously irrelevant operator (or dangerous irrelevant operator) is an operator which is irrelevant at a renormalization group fixed point, yet affects the infrared (IR) physics significantly (e.g. because the vacuum expectation value (VEV) of some field depends sensitively upon the coefficient of this operator). Slava Rychkov - Random Field Ising Model and Parisi-Sourlas Supersymmetry (3/4)

Numerical evidence suggests that the Random Field Ising Model loses Parisi-Sourlas SUSY and the dimensional reduction property somewhere between 4 and 5 dimensions, while a related model of branched polymers retains these features in any d. I will present a recent theory, developed in 2019

Hermitian Operators (Self-Adjoint Operators) | Quantum Mechanics

In this video, we will talk about Hermitian operators in quantum mechanics. If an operator A is a Hermitian operator, then it is the same as its adjoint operator A-dagger, which is defined via this equation here. Usually, the terms "Hermitian" and "self adjoint" are used interchangeably, h
