Acylindrically hyperbolic group

In the mathematical subject of geometric group theory, an acylindrically hyperbolic group is a group admitting a non-elementary 'acylindrical' isometric action on some geodesic hyperbolic metric space. This notion generalizes the notions of a hyperbolic group and of a relatively hyperbolic group and includes a significantly wider class of examples, such as mapping class groups and Out(Fn). Groups acting acylindrically on hyperbolic spaces – Denis Osin – ICM2018

Geometry Invited Lecture 5.3 Groups acting acylindrically on hyperbolic spaces Denis Osin Abstract: The goal of this article is to survey some recent developments in the study of groups acting on hyperbolic spaces. We focus on the class of ‘acylindrically hyperbolic groups’; it is broad

Rose Morris-Wright: Parabolic Subgroups of Infinite Type Artin Groups

Abstract : Parabolic subgroups are the fundamental building blocks of Artin groups. These subgroups are isomorphic copies of smaller Artin groups nested inside a given Artin group. In this talk, I will discuss questions surrounding how parabolic subgroups sit inside Artin groups and how th

Cornelia Drutu - Connections between hyperbolic geometry and median geometry

The interest of median geometry comes from its connections with property (T) and a-T-menability and, in its discrete version, with the solution to the virtual Haken conjecture. In this talk I shall explain how groups endowed with various forms of hyperbolic geometry, from lattices in rank

Isometry groups in planar geometry | WildTrig: Intro to Rational Trigonometry | N J Wildberger

In this video we look at isometry groups in three planar geometries, the Euclidean (blue) geometry, and two relativistic geometries (red and green). These geometries arise from particular dot products, or symmetric bilinear forms. To simplify the discussion, we first introduce grounded is
